Norjalainen kohukirjailija Karl Ove Knausgård on kuusiosaisessa romaanisarjassaan 'Min Kamp' käsitellyt rankasti, paitsi omaa elämäänsä, myös läheistensä elämää, oikeilla nimillä mainiten. Kari Hesthamarin radiodokumentti tuo keskusteluun nyt ex-vaimon näkökulman. Ohjelma on herättänyt Norjassa paljon huomiota. Tonje’s Version
A radio documentary about involuntarily becoming a character in a novel.
In autumn 2009, the literary debate in Norway exploded when author Karl Ove Knausgård published the first of a total of six volumes of his auto-biographical novel ”Min Kamp” (My Battle). (The Norwegian title translates directly into ”Mein Kampf” in German) This extremely disclosing novel series sold a record number of books and was seen as a ground-breaking work that revoked the novel as genre. Gradually the discussion began about what happens when one to such a degree exposes oneself and others in art.
Tonje Aursland was formerly married to author Knausgård and is a central character in several of his ”Min Kamp” books. In the radio documentary ”Tonje’s Version” she for the first time explains what it is like to involuntarily be a character in a novel and have her life exposed in his books.
Aursland believes one soon will be ridiculed if one argues against a work of art, and feels that she has everything to lose by talking about this in public. - Basically I should have had every opportunity to express myself, but in this situation where I have become a character in a work of art, there is no tolerance for it, for art work in itself is elevated above everything.
I can say that "this was terribly uncomfortable, why do you do this, I remember it differently", but these arguments are met by the public with shaking of heads.
She believes the media is only concerned with her saying how terrible it has been, and that it is impossible to stand up without being perceived as a victim or a bitter ex-wife.
This documentary follows Aursland forward to the release of "Min Kamp 5 ", which among other things, is about their marriage and divorce. In the documentary she also confronts her ex-husband with him making her a character in his novel, and asks whether the reactions he has received have had an impact on him.
