Finnair flight AY 005 landed as scheduled in New York at 3.15 pm local time Monday afternoon, but was isolated and subjected to additional security checks following a hijacking and bomb threat call.

Once officials were satisfied that the threats were unfounded, the aircraft was allowed to taxi to its gate position, where the 227 passengers and 9 crew members were allowed to disembark.

Finnair said the airline is investigating the case with local authorities.

The Finnish flag carrier said that there were several similar hijacking and bomb threats against other airlines in the United States on Monday.

The return flight was delayed by one hour as a result of the incident.
