Finnish ATM manufacturer Automatia will develop a new network of automatic tellers. Customers will be able to deposit as well as withdraw money using the new so-called “recycled ATMs”, according to the business daily Kauppalehti.

The first machines will come online in the Helsinki region early next year. Initially Automatia plans to build some 200 new ATMs across the country.

Customers will be able to use their bank cards to access the ATM services, just as they do now in the traditional cash points. The machines will accept cash and coin deposits, which will show up in customer accounts immediately.

Automatia says the deposit machines will be particularly useful for small businesses. Banks will decide whether or not to charge for the automatic deposit service.
