Support for the opposition Centre Party has dropped by just under four percentage points since the last municipal elections, according to a poll by the daily Helsingin Sanomat.
The opinion poll shows that 16.4 percent of voters would support the Centre Party in a municipal election. Four years ago, 20.1 percent of voters cast ballots for the party in the municipal election.
Meanwhile support for the other opposition bloc, the Finns Party, has risen from 5.4 percent since the last local government election to 12.9 percent.
The main government parties, the National Coalition and the Social Democrats, would receive 22 percent and 20.9 percent of votes respectively, if a local election were held now.
The survey was conducted by pollster TNS Gallup for Helsingin Sanomat and interviewed some 2,500 Finns. The margin of error was ± 0.02 percent.
