Espoo explosion suspect remanded in custody
A worker is to face charges after an explosion at an Espoo construction site that sent rocks flying through the windows of a nearby shopping centre, injuring eight people.
The explosion caused the evacuation of the Iso Omena shopping mall in Matinkylä. Police estimate the damages caused will run to hundreds of thousands of euros.
The construction worker arrested following the explosion has now been remanded in custody. Among other offences, he is suspected of work safety crimes and aggravated public endangerment.
