A court case against the police inspector who interviewed the gunman, Matti Saari, one day before his shooting spree begins this month.

The inspector is suspected of dereliction of duty, as he did not confiscate Saari's gun. Victims’ families are also seeking involuntary manslaughter charges for the defendant. The inspector denies the charges.

The officer interviewed the gunman after being alerted to alarming internet videos he had posted. In them, the 22-year-old Saari was shown firing a handgun and making vague threats.

Last September, Saari opened fire on classes in his vocational school in south-western Finland, killing nine students and a teacher before turning the gun on himself.
