Fewer People Applying to Universities

Fewer people are interested in applying to university, at least in Finland. According to YLE’s TV News, the number of applicants to all universities in Finland has dropped by nearly five percent since last year.

Oulu saw the biggest decline in applicants. The University of Turku, however, is just as popular as ever.

Young people are less interested in studying education, business and information technology. However, they are keen on studying international subjects, a trend seen in all universities.

According to the data gained by YLE’s TV News, about 67,000 people applied to universities this year. Last year, just fewer than 70,000 applied. YLE’s TV News
