The Finns started the day knowing that a draw would be enough to secure their spot in next summer’s championships. Their eventual margin of victory was more than enough for them to win the group and advance to the finals.

Leena Puranen put Finland ahead on seven minutes, before a penalty from Maija Saari and a hat-trick by Sanna Talonen completed the rout.

The victory puts Finland nine points clear of Slovakia, Belarus and Ukraine in qualifying group 5 with one game left to play. That game is against Ukraine at Helsinki's Sonera Stadium on Wednesday 19 September, with kick-off at 6:30pm.

The 12-team final tournament in Sweden takes place from 10 to 28 July in seven different venues across Sweden. Finland are the fourth team to claim a spot after Italy and Germany won their groups in July. Sweden qualify automatically as hosts.
