Finnish Iraqis Flock to Sweden to Vote

Over the weekend, busloads of Iraqi expatriates living in various parts of Finland have travelled to Sweden to vote in their country's first multi-party elections in half a century.

Their balloting location is a school in the Bromma neighbourhood of the capital Stockholm.

There are also two other locations in Sweden. The only other country where Iraqis can vote in the Nordic countries is Denmark.

The Finnish Iraqis had to make separate trips to Stockholm last week to register to vote. The three days of voting abroad began on Friday in 14 countries.

Most Iraqis living in the Nordic region are Kurds and are expected to vote for Kurdish parties. There are also many Shiite Muslims.
