Finns under fire in Afghanistan

Finland and Sweden share a joint force in Afghanistan. The unit comprises 195 Finnish peacekeepers and is under Swedish command.

A joint Finnish-Swedish peacekeeping force in Afghanistan has once more come under fire from insurgents.

The troops were fired upon with hand guns and rocket launchers in an ambush.

No one was injured in the gunfight, which took place near Chimtal about 50 kilometres west of Mazar-i-Sharif.

According to ground forces, the unit was executing a joint assignment with members of the Afghan security forces when the attack occured.
