Prices for sugar, milk and meat products have increased since the beginning of this year and will continue to do so. Cereal prices are also on the increase.

The hike is due to a rise in world market prices, for example, for grains and soybeans.

Drought and high temperatures have reduced harvests in the United States while in Finland and central Europe, heavy rainfall has taken its toll on crops.

Eyes are on Finland's grain harvest; already the potato crop is poorer than usual.
