The 130 metre long bridge will be moved 17 metres in the largest operation of its kind ever carried out in Finland.

Similar bridge moves have been made in Finland but never with such a long structure. The move is part of a refurbishing project in the Kalasatama district.

Moving the bridge has led to a break in Helsinki metro services for nine days between the Ruoholahti and Kulosaari. Trains have been replaced by extra bus services.

Metro services between are operating as usual between Mellunmäki and Kulosaari and on the line from Vuosaari to Itäkeskus. Trains are running at eight minute intervals.
