Police are holding a Turku lawyer, Juha Turunen, on suspicion of organizing the kidnapping of the woman, a member of the Herlin family industrial dynasty.

Turunen is said to have planned the crime professionally and in detail, but he also made a few surprising mistakes.

Making his escape by bicycle with the ransom money, he entered a parking garage where he not only dropped some of the cash, but also was taped by surveillance cameras.

Chief Inspector Kari Tolvanen confirmed to YLE on Monday that during some of her captivity the victim was confined in a soundproof compartment that the kidnapper had built in his apartment in central Turku.

Police have continuing interrogating witnesses and the suspected perpetrator, but released no details on Monday. They are also looking into whether the kidnapper acted alone or possibly had confederates.
