The consultative negotiations concern about 4,100 people in Metso's Finnish paper production service business. Some 150 employees may be outsourced, according to the company.

The targeted units are at Jyväskylä, Järvenpää, Tampere, Raisio, Juankoski and Valkeakoski.

Reductions are to be implemented in the first half of next year.

Metso is also planning major temporary layoffs at the same locations, with 3,500 employees affected.

The company aims to save 30 million euros in annual operational costs.
