The exhibition provides visitors with background and consequences of the 105-day war.

The museum held a similar exhibition ten years ago. However, this exhibition places greater emphasis on the atmosphere on the home front and perceptions from abroad.

Postcards sent during the war are also on display. A multimedia exhibition has been updated as well. In addition, the Military Museum and the Association for Military History are organising a series of lectures on crucial events during the war.

The Military Museum is located in Helsinki’s Kruununhaka district. The Winter War exhibition runs until September 30, 2010.

In addition to the museum exhibition, war memorial events have been staged in various parts of Finland. For example, the Defence Forces, war veterans’ organisations, the City of Helsinki and many other bodies have participated in a remembrance service at the Mannerheim Square in the city centre. A wreath was also placed at the tomb of Marshall Gustav Mannerheim at the Hietaniemi Cemetery in Helsinki.
