Kuva: YLE
On Tuesday, September 23rd, a 22-year-old young man walked into his classroom at the College of Hospitality in Kauhajoki and opened fire. Ten people were killed - some died instantly, others died later in hospital. The man then turned the gun on himself. This is the second school shooting in Finland in less than a year, and the country is now clamoring for answers to how this could happen and how this can be prevented from ever happening again.
Katainen: Prevention of Tragedy Not A Money Matter Jyrki Katainen, Finance Minister and Chairman of the National Coalition Party, has taken a firm stand in favour of immediate tightening of gun laws.
Police Chief Denies Blocked Gun Confiscation Order Police Commissioner Mikko Paatero has refuted reports published in the tabloid Ilta-Sanomat, which claim that the police inspector who interviewed the Kauhajoki gunman on Monday had earlier prevented the confiscation of the man's handgun.
