In 2004 the population increased faster than it has in the past eight years. Moe children were born, fewer people died, and immigration has also increased.
Around 1,200 more babies were born this year than in 2005, while 1,300 fewer people died.
The net growth of immigration vs. emigration was 6,300.
In addition, the number of weddings was the largest in the past two decades. All in all, 28,800 couples tied the knot, while 13,200 couples divorced. Registered same-sex partnerships totalled 170.
