The gap between men’s and women’s salaries in Finland is larger than the EU average. An EU report shows that Finnish women earn 20 percent less than their male colleagues.

According to the report based on data from 2004, women earn on average 15 percent less than men in EU member states.

Estonia, Slovakia and Cyprus showed the most extreme differences in salaries. Meanwhile, the pay gap in Italy, Portugal and Malta was smaller.

Salary differences between the sexes have decreased in most EU member states. However, the gap has grown in several countries including Belgium, France and Germany.
