Thousands of Businesses Ignore Waste Disposal

Several thousand businesses in Finland currently ignore their legal requirements on waste disposal. According to present legislation, firms and importers must ensure the recycling of waste or arrange other forms of waste handling at their own expense. The Pirkanmaa Regional Environmental Centre says the packaging and tyre sectors, in particular, need to pay more attention to the proper disposal of waste. In addition to packaging and tyre firms, other sectors required to have acceptable waste care measures in place include electronics, recycled paper and scrap metals. YLE
