Finnish Investigators: Slovenian Police Leaked Info in Bribery Case

For months, KRP has been investigating a bribery case involving Patria and top Slovenian officials. Until recently, KRP said cooperation with Slovenian police was moving smoothly.

On Monday the Slovenia media accused Finland of not wanting to cooperate because Finnish police refused to release more information concerning the persons on the list. Finnish officers admit they are now hesitant to provide their Slovenian counterparts with more details following the leak.

Finnish investigators say that faltering cooperation between the countries has hindered their work. Still, they say they hope their investigation will be ready by the end of the year.

YLE Stands by Story Last week the YLE programme MOT claimed that Patria had bribed top Slovenian officials, including the country's prime minister. Slovenia sent Finland two diplomatic notes over the matter, and YLE has been threatened with legal action. However, YLE said again on Monday that it stands behind the programme. Several Patria employees, including the former CEO Jorma Wiitakorpi, are suspected of bribery and industrial espionage. On Monday Wiitakorpi again denied the claims. YLE
