Toxic Substances Found in Toys
Only six of 20 children's products tested by the Consumer Agency passed safety regulations. Toxic phthalate was found in eight toys and other children's products.
Other tested items were discovered to have minor safety shortcomings or labelling defects.
The Consumer Agency recommends the immediate removal of two types of food bibs as well as soft toy dogs given out by R-kiosks as part of a fundraising campaign. Consumers can return the products in question without a receipt, and receive a similar product in return or a refund.
Phthalates are used to soften PVC plastics. The Consumer Agency advises against contact of any kind with the substance.
Almost 300,000 soft dog toys were given out during the R-kiosk campaign. Last week, around half of them were returned due to their toxicity.
