The Finnish textile design company Marimekko has reached an agreement with Dolce & Gabbana in a dispute over a popular Marimekko pattern.

Marimekko brought its case to the European Market Court after a nearly identical pattern of stylized red poppies began to appear on shoes and clothing made by Dolce & Gabbana. The "Unikko" pattern is copyrighted by Marimekko and considered by many to be an iconic emblem of Finnish design.

At one point, Dolce & Gabbana threatened to try and get the copyright annulled on the pattern.

In the deal reached between the two companies, Dolce & Gabbana agreed to pay Marimekko an undisclosed fee each time it uses the pattern. The terms of the agreement will not be made public.
