Commission of Enquiry into Jokela School Shootings
The Council of State has assembled a commission of enquiry to investigate the Jokela School shootings.
Last week President Tarja Halonen signed a decree to enforce a statue that would provide a commission the wide-ranging powers needed to get to the bottom of the Jokela and Kauhajoki mass murder-suicides.
It is expected that the commission would have a report ready by February next year.
Members of the commission include representatives from five ministries and the Accidents Investigation Board and a medical chief of staff. The composition was the same for the commission that conducted an previous inquiry into the Jokela School incident as part of a Justice Ministry working group.
Nine persons including the perpetrator died during a mass shooting at the Jokela School on November 7, 2007.
