Political experts have not joined in the growing chorus calling for early elections. Some feel, though, that Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen’s position could be on the line.
Emeritus Professor Antero Jyränki says that confidence in the premier rests with parliament if he does not himself reconsider his position.
Jyränki feels the current furor over campaign funding is not in itself an issue to demand early elections. Far greater sums of money and larger issues, he feels, would be needed to justify a call to the ballot box.
