Transport Minister: New Motorway Finland's Last

The E18 motorway project running across southern Finland from Turku in the south-west to the south-eastern port of Hamina is expected to be complete by 2015.
Minister of Transport Anu Vehviläinen says that after its inauguration, no further motorways will be needed in Finland.
Priority will then be given to improving road safety including the construction, for example, of new medians.
Vehviläinen adds that an end to motorway construction will not necessarily reduce the budget for road traffic, owing to the high cost of repair and maintenance work.
