12 Injured in Kaarina Fire

Residents of a three-story block of flats in the town of Kaarina, near Turku, were evacuated in the early hours of Wednesday due to a fire. Twelve were treated for smoke inhalation.
No serious injuries were reported.
Three of the injured were hospitalised, while the others were treated at the local health clinic. Temporary housing has been arranged for all the evacuees.
The blaze broke out in the cellar of the building on Verkatie, and smoke began to rise up two of the stairwells.
Rescue officials were alerted to the fire shortly before 3 a.m. The fire has been extinguished. Police are beginning an investigation on Wednesday morning.
