The Service Union United (PAM) has left a strike warning affecting retail clerks and security guards. The one-day strike would take place on April 16th.
The governing body of PAM issued the warning on Thursday; negotiations with employers broke down on Thursday. The union also imposed a ban on overtime work, effective immediately.
The 24-hour strike would affect 170,000 retail employees and about 7,000 guards.
The move did not come as a surprise to Heikki Ropponen, deputy managing director of the Federation of Finnish Commerce. He said that the union’s demands for a pay hike were twice as high as what the management side has offered.
