Parliament has been recalled from its summer break to discuss the support package for Spain’s financial system and associated guarantees from the country’s government.

It had earlier been agreed that parliament would only be recalled if an agreement on guarantees for Finland's contribution was reached.

Lawmakers will debate a proposal on Thursday, with the legislature’s Grand Committee—responsible for EU issues—will meet at 11am. MPs will vote on the proposal on Friday.

The tight timetable is necessary to ensure the matter is handled before Friday's eurozone summit.
