Yle reported in June that occupational health officials had uncovered cases of employees working excessive overtime hours. In one case, a single employee racked up 1,000 hours of overtime within the course of a year.

Police say that only rarely have such excesses come to light. They suspect the company is guilty of occupational security offences and is in contravention of laws governing working hours.

More than ten people are under suspicion, including management representatives.

Lassila & Tikanoja operates in Finland, Russia, Latvia and Sweden and employs some 10,000 people.
