The film premiered this month and relates the stories of living through Estonia’s recent history. A panel from the Finnish Chamber of Films described the work as exceptionally fine and said that it enthralled audiences.
The panel also found the actors’ performances to be breathtaking and commended the execution of the film.
Finnish actors Laura Birn, Liisi Tandefelt, Amanda Pilke, Peter Franzén and Krista Kosonen fronted the cast of the movie.
Every year the US Motion Picture Academy invites all film producing countries to submit one candidate to compete in the best foreign film category of the legendary Academy Awards.
Next year’s Academy gala takes place on February 24, while finalists will be announced on January 10.
