The coastal line was worst affected by the storm. Most of this remains closed, with replacement busses still used here. Only the section of the line between Helsinki and Kirkkonummi is in operation.

Train traffic between Toijala and Turku has also been adversely affected.

The Finnish Transport Agency estimates that repairs on the line between Kirkkonummi and Turku will be completed during Tuesday, while train traffic between Toijala and Turku should be restored by Wednesday morning.

The train line around Ylivieska and Iisalmi is again open for rail traffic, but passengers here are being transported by busses due to rail problems in the Savo region.

According to Finland's National Rail VR, the Savo region is experiencing the major rail problems. Train traffic around the rail hub of Pieksämäki has been cut; no trains are travelling to Mikkeli or Jyväskylä due to power failures. However, train services to Kuopio and Joensuu have been restored.

It is also expected that the Mikkeli-Pieksämäki rail line will be back in use by Wednesday morning.

The Finnish Transport Agency cautions drivers, as warning signals are not working in hundreds of level crossing because of power failures.

Tuesday's storm is disrupting road traffic especially in eastern Finland, where trees are still falling on roads. Water has also risen onto roads in many places.
