Among other tasks, the officer will try to help Finnish police ascertain whether the beggars have links to organised crime. Finnish police are keen to discover if people in Romania are organising crimes in Finland. Family and clan ties are to be investigated.

The Romanian police officer will stay in Finland to the end of the summer, participating in police operations and interviewing suspects. Finnish-Romanian co-operation in policing was agreed at ministerial level in the spring.
