Foreign language listening comprehension is the first of the final exams.

On Tuesday the tests continue with listening comprehension of Finland's second domestic language, either Swedish or Finnish. Written exams begin on Friday.

The battery of examinations ends on October 3, with Sami as a first language administered as the final test.

The series of school-leaving matriculation exams are organised in the autumn and spring.

Some 37,000 high school seniors have signed up for the matriculation tests. Passing the nationally graded exam is a prerequisite for further academic education in Finland.
