Some 1,200 households are without power on Thursday morning in the southwest and the Pirkanmaa region as energy companies work to repair the damage from the latest winter storm to hit Finland.

Power company Fortum said on Wednesday that it had fixed all faults on its main grid dating from last week's storms.

Fortum said the new blackouts would be short-lived as wet snow only caused trees to lean on power lines, not fall on them.

The Federation of Finnish Financial Services estimates that storm damages may run to 70 million euros.
