Summer heats up the south

Lapland, which has been soaked by wet, thundery weather, will see a drier day on Sunday. Yle’s meteorologist Matti Huutonen predicts fine summer weather in the south.

The weekend forecast calls for rain coming in from the west, reaching the east by Saturday evening. Heavy rainfall in Lapland will taper off, with only the occasional shower sprinkling the northern landscape on Sunday.

Temperatures are set to rise to above 20 degrees Celsius in southern and central Finland on Sunday.

“Fine summer weather is in store on Sunday south of the line between Vaasa and Lappeenranta,” Huutonen promises. “However, changeable weather is set to continue in the coming days.”

Lapland will remain cool.

“On Tuesday, the temperature in eastern and northern Lapland may not even reach 10 degrees,” estimates the Yle meteorologist.
