Losing one’s health is a prospect that scares Finns the most on a personal level, according to the survey.

Age factors into what people fear above all, however. Men and those over 60 worry about their health deteriorating, but women and youths are more frightened by the thought of falling victim to violence.

Most frequently cited threats to Finland as a whole were a nuclear plant accident, terrorism, data network collapse and uncontrollable immigration.

Over 1,200 people gave their answers to the Interior Ministry’s questionnaire, which was sent out by email.
