Top Executives See No End to Economic Crisis in Sight

The European Business Leaders’ Convention held in Helsinki was attended by senior executives from 25 countries. High on the agenda was the current economic crisis.

Among the participants were Anatoli Chubais, Chair of the Russian State venture Fund RUSNANO, TeliaSonera CEO Lars Nyberg and Ericsson's Chairman of the Board Michael Treschow. The council's proceedings were chaired by Jorma Ollila, Chairman of Nokia and Shell.

The Convention's Secretary General Risto E.J. Penttilä told YLE the meeting had concluded with no clear view of when the economic crisis in Europe would end.

Senior executives also took the view that businesses, banks and individuals should not let the economic crisis put the brakes on activity.

Participants concluded their meeting with a visit to the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
