Two injured on track in possible murder attempt
Two people were seriously injured by a train in Vantaa on Tuesday morning. One of the victims was a boy aged two and a half. Rescue officials say he was being held on the tracks by his grandfather, aged 59.
Both are in hospital in critical condition.
Inspector Timo Pirinen of the Eastern Uusimaa police says the case is being investigated as a crime, possibly attempted murder or manslaughter.
The incident occurred about 100 metres north of Myyrmäki station as the train departed in the direction of Louhela.
Train services were suspended for a time before returning to normal.
