Two jabs a month apart offer protection for a year, with a booster shot the following year will give around five years’ immunity, according to the Finnish Vaccination Service’s chief physician Jukka Vakkila. He says that vaccinations are still available from the pharmacy.

Vakkila recommends vaccinations for people who spend a lot of time in rural environments on the coast, or around large lakes.
