The city of Turku in southwest Finland has been included in a list compiled by US newspaper The New York Times of cities to visit when the coronavirus crisis is over.
The list, comprising of 52 cities from across the globe, highlights the top destinations to visit as soon as the pandemic has ended.
The Aura River and the city's proximity to nature were picked as Turku's best features by Avanti Chajed, a doctoral student living in the city.
"Turku has been through somewhat of a makeover in the past few years, and we have a booming restaurant industry, as well as a wonderful archipelago for visitors wanting to explore the nature surrounding our city," said Lotta Bäck, Head of International Marketing of Visit Turku.
"We are very pleased to have been nominated by The New York Times as a post-Covid travel destination. It's a heart-warming feeling to look forward to the future, and adds a glimmer of hope that these challenging times will soon be over," Bäck stated.
