Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP), who has been embroiled in a scandal this week over her free breakfasts, said she wants a full review of benefits available to the premier.

She on Saturday tweeted (siirryt toiseen palveluun) that she wants to clarify the terms of meal benefits at the prime minister's official Kesäranta residence.

Marin said she would cover her breakfast costs as there were open questions regarding benefits related to breakfasts at Kesäranta and other perks available to the prime minister.

"Though well-established, there’s some ambiguity regarding services available to the prime minister. It’s good that the issue is thoroughly examined," she tweeted.

This week PM Sanna Marin talked to Yle News' All Points North podcast:

Police on Friday launched a preliminary investigation into whether there are grounds to suspect officials of misconduct over expenses related to the prime minister's breakfast costs.

The investigation will look at officials' actions, not those of Marinherself.

Earlier this week Iltalehti reported (siirryt toiseen palveluun) that ingredients for the Prime Minister's and her family's breakfasts at her official residence were paid for by the taxpayer. The cost came to some 300 euros per month, but the PM's office declined to hand over receipts for the purchases.
