Environmental protesters that blocked Mannerheimintie in the capital on Thursday and Friday have moved to the Kruununhaka district.
Protesters spent Friday night on Unioninkatu, near the Lutheran Cathedral, after reaching an agreement with police to move on from Helsinki's main thoroughfare, Mannerheimintie.
Demonstrators from Extinction Rebellion Finland (Elokapina) released a statement on Friday saying that their "summer revolt" would continue until the government responds to the group's demands to declare a climate and ecological crisis (siirryt toiseen palveluun) and bring forward Finland's carbon neutrality target to 2025.
On Friday Krista Mikkonen (Green), Finland's Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, promised to take the group's concerns to the administration after meeting with them on Mannerheimintie, a few steps away from Parliament.
