Regulations at Finland's borders for passengers arriving from Schengen Area countries as well as non-Schengen EU member states will be lifted from Tuesday, 1 February.

In December, Finland's government reintroduced a ruling that all Schengen and EU passengers must show a certificate of a full series of vaccinations or recovery from Covid-19 within the previous six months as well as a certificate of a negative Covid PCR or antigen test result from within the previous 48 hours, as the country grappled with a rapid rise in the number of coronavirus infections.

The requirement for a negative test result did not apply to Finnish citizens or permanent residents of Finland.

The border controls had previously been in place during the spring of 2021.

However, passengers arriving into Finland from outside the Schengen and EU areas will still be required to show proof of vaccination and a negative test taken within the previous 48 hours. This measure is expected to remain in place until Monday 14 February.
