Summer provides a golden opportunity for credit card fraud

Summer provides the perfect opportunity for bank and credit card fraudsters. With people on the move, the public is being advised to take good care of their cards. Finnish credit card provider Luottokunta now sends an SMS message to its clients if a false transaction is suspected.

Similarly instructions can be given on how to cancel a credit card. Luottokunta constantly monitors transactions and investigates suspicious activity before contacting a client.

In order to combat phishing attempts to gain access to their pin codes and numbers, cardholders should check the origin of any message. Luottokunta never asks for a card number, pin code or similar confidential data.

Clients are advised to keep a watchful eye on bank and credit cards. Pin codes should be shielded from view when a transaction is being carried out. This is especially important when using a handheld payment terminal in a restaurant. Thieves will often use a disclosed pin code to make additional payments on the card.
