Controversial MP's aide resigns over Nazi link

A Finns Party parliamentary staffer who admitted to applying to join a neo-Nazi group says she will resign from her job. MP Juho Eerola's assistant, Ulla Pyysalo, will quit by the end of the year, according to information obtained by YLE.

Pyysalo says she is leaving her job because she does not want to harm her party’s reputation, but she emphasises that she was not pressured to quit. Pyysalo says her departure also hinges on finding new employment. She says that she has no plans of relinquishing party membership.

News emerged earlier this week that Pyysalo a year ago applied for membership in the Finnish Resistance Movement. The group espouses a national socialist, anti-immigrant agenda. Pyysalo maintains that she never joined the group.
