Supo looks into possible Finnish connection to Florence shooter

The Finnish Security Intelligence Service (Supo) is taking an interest in Tuesday's racially motivated shooting in Florence. The perpetrator, who killed two African immigrant street traders, belonged to a far-right Italian organisation with links to extremist Finns.

The head of Supo’s security and regional unit, Kari Harju, said that Supo is waiting to hear from Italian officials if the attacker had any direct contact with the Finnish Resistance Movement, a far-right organisation active in Finland.

The Finnish Resistance Movement held a seminar in October attended by leaders of Casa Pound, an Italian neo-fascist movement based in ‘social centres’ that the shooter, Gianluca Casseri, attended.

Casa Pound has distanced itself from the shootings.
