Xi, who is tipped to become China's next president, will meet with Finland's President Tarja Halonen Friday to discuss bilateral relations as well as international issues, according to the Finnish foreign ministry.
No press briefings are scheduled for the trip, which is part of events to mark the 60-year anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and also includes a visit to the headquarters of mobile phone giant Nokia and a forest site of paper maker UPM-Kymmene in Lapland.
Xi's private agenda in Rovaniemi includes a visit to Santa's cabin and a reindeer farm.
