Injuries at Sudden Storm at Pori Music Festival

Two people injured at last weekend's Sonisphere Music Festival in Pori are no longer in critical condition. On Sunday, a sudden and unusually powerful storm surprised festival fans and knocked part of a stage into the crowd.

Winds ripped apart one of the main stage's support scaffolding and sent it flying into the crowd. Altogether around 40 people were injured, with two requiring hospitalisation.

The accident, however, only delayed the concert for a few hours.

In addition to the main stage, vendors’ tents were damaged in the sudden storm. The downburst started at Pori airport, where it damaged a private plane. The plane is believed to have been chartered to transport one of the performers, American singer Alice Cooper.

All scheduled performances on the stage that was affected for Sunday evening were cancelled, including that of Mötley Crue. The band’s bassist Twittered that the stage and the band’s instruments were destroyed in the storm.
