Tuberculosis Diagnosed in Helsinki School

A student in Helsinki has been diagnosed with communicable tuberculosis.

Medical authorities have already determined which classmates and teachers may have been exposed to the disease.

City health officials began investigating the unusual case with the help of school officials as soon as the diagnosis was made last week.

The risk of contagion is highest for people who live with the infected student, or who otherwise spend extended periods of time with the patient, such as classmates.
