Arrest in Patria Bribery Case

Finnish police have taken a man into custody for suspicion of aggravated bribery in defence contractor Patria's sale of artillery technology to Egypt.

Patria sold the equipment to Egypt from the years 1997 to 2004.

The National Bureau of Investigation has also launched a probe into a shady armoured transport vehicle deal between Patria and Slovenia. Three people have been taken into custody in the bribery probe. The investigation is expected to be ready by autumn.

The Finnish state owns just over 73 percent of Patria. The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company also owns more than a quarter of its shares.
